Does Direct Sales really work?
I admit it. Before I became an Independent Scentsy Consultant I wasn’t too sure that Direct Sales would work too well. I didn’t think it was possible to add to my downline. I just wasn’t sure what to expect when I joined.
I think Direct Sales can work well for you if you put the effort into it. If you sit back and hope sales will come to you, they probably won’t. You have to get out there and let people know you sell whatever it is you are selling. It can be person to person or online. There are different ways of running a Direct Sales business.
The great thing about Scentsy is that if someone has heard of it, they usually love it. And if they haven’t heard of it, they usually think it is pretty cool. I have gotten several sales from people who just see a Scentsy warmer and have to have one too!
Direct Sales can be frustrating at times because you might go through periods of time where sales are slow or not as busy as other times. Just remember that sales can fluctuate like that but usually they even out. It also gives you a chance to re-evaluate how you are working your business and what you might need to change. You can really take the time to think about what works and what doesn’t.
Don’t spend time on ideas that don’t really work!
If nothing else, come back to them later. For example, say you send out 100 catalogs at every new catalog launch. From those 100 catalogs you get 2 orders. Is that worth your time? If you feel it isn’t, quit doing it. At least for right now. Maybe that strategy works best closer to Christmas or at a different time of year? Maybe postcards work better than full catalogs? Play around with it but don’t spend too much time on something that isn’t working for you.
Remember that if you keep going and other people don’t, you will come out ahead. If your Direct Sales climate is like mine, you might just be 1 of 1000s of consultants in your city all selling the exact same thing. However, not everyone is cut out for Direct sales and not everyone is going to keep at it. If you keep going, you will come out ahead.
